·Killarney, Ireland

Accredited by AsIAm as an Autism Friendly Town against its 3-year standard, covering the town rather than any single business. Participating shops and services have completed AsIAm autism training. Killarney is a Kerry gateway to the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park; a town-level accreditation here is useful because a family break tends to move around several venues over a few days.

A travel operator rather than a place -- it runs staffed group cruises for families of autistic children, teens and adults, and staffed resort stays. It has worked with Royal Caribbean since 2007 and now books Carnival and Disney sailings too. Staffed cruises carry a minimum ratio of one Autism on the Seas staff member to every two guests with additional needs, with staff drawn from child development, behaviour therapy and special education backgrounds, and one-to-two-hour respite sessions through the cruise so parents get a break. Included here because it is a holiday, not a day out -- and because the staffing model is the part parents told the study they most struggle to find.

·Clonakilty, Ireland

Ireland's first Autism Friendly Town, accredited by AsIAm against its 3-year Autism Friendly Towns standard. The accreditation covers the town rather than any single business: participating shops, cafes and services in Clonakilty have completed AsIAm autism awareness training, and the town publishes information for visiting families. Note that individual businesses within the town are not separately audited by us -- if you want a specific hotel or attraction confirmed, check its own current provision before booking. Included here because a whole-town accreditation is a genuinely different unit than a single venue and is the strongest signal the standing research found for Ireland.

·Drumcondra, Ireland

A Dublin neighbourhood accredited by AsIAm as an Autism Friendly Town against its 3-year standard, covering the area rather than any single business. Participating shops and services have completed AsIAm autism training. Included on the same basis as Clonakilty above; unlike the others this is a residential Dublin district, so a visitor is more likely to encounter it via a specific attraction than as a whole-town holiday.

·150 Great Wolf Drive, Fitchburg, MA 01420

An indoor water park resort about an hour from Boston. Great Wolf Lodge partnered with IBCCES in 2023 across its US resorts: more than 7,000 staff have completed IBCCES training, and every slide, pool, ride, attraction, show and activity has a downloadable sensory guide rating noise, lighting and crowd levels so a family can plan which attractions to attempt and which to skip. Guest rooms have adjustable lighting and temperature and can be used as a quiet retreat. Note the IBCCES relationship here is a training and sensory-guide partnership, not the per-site Certified Autism Center designation Sesame Place and LEGOLAND New York hold.

·Hauppauge, United States

Discover Long Island, the destination marketing organisation for Long Island, was awarded the IBCCES Certified Autism Center designation in July 2026 after its staff completed autism-specific training. It appears on the free IBCCES Accessibility App, which gives real-time guidance on certified destinations and sensory-friendly spaces. This is a tourism-board certification -- useful as a planning route into an area within reach of New York City, rather than a guarantee about any individual hotel or attraction on the island. Check each venue separately.

·Maynooth, Ireland

Accredited by AsIAm as an Autism Friendly Town against its 3-year standard, covering the town rather than any single business. Participating shops and services have completed AsIAm autism training. Included on the same basis as Clonakilty above -- a whole-town accreditation is a genuinely different unit than a single venue, and individual businesses within the town are not separately audited by us.

·Mesa, United States

A whole destination rather than a single venue: Mesa was designated an Autism Certified City by IBCCES in 2019, and states that over 60 businesses and 5,000 individuals across the city are autism certified -- Mesa Parks, the city museums, the Chamber of Commerce, police and fire, and several non-profits among them. Certified partners span lodging, dining, attractions, transport and community resources, and Visit Mesa publishes IBCCES-approved sensory guides per venue plus an autism travel guide as a downloadable PDF. Note that Myrtle Beach also describes itself as America's first autism certified city, so treat the "first" claims on both sides with caution -- the certification itself is what matters here.

·5223 David Edwards Drive, San Antonio, TX 78233

A 25-acre theme park built from the ground up to be, in its own words, ultra-accessible -- every one of its 25 attractions is designed so that every ability and disability can use it. Built by Gordon Hartman after watching other children refuse to play with his daughter Morgan, and designed in consultation with disabled people, carers, physicians and physical therapists. Includes a sensory play centre, a Ferris wheel, a carousel and an eight-acre fishing lake. The adjoining splash park, Morgan's Inspiration Island, has five splash pads, an accessible river boat ride and waterproof wheelchairs to borrow.

·Myrtle Beach, United States

A beach destination certified through IBCCES: the City of Myrtle Beach's Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism department is a Certified Autism Center, and certification extends across participating businesses citywide rather than to one attraction. Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is separately a Certified Autism Center. Included because it is one of very few US destinations where a family can plan a whole week rather than one certified venue inside an otherwise unprepared town.

·Highland, NY (Hudson Valley)

An all-inclusive four-season family resort in New York's Hudson Valley, designated a Certified Autism Center by IBCCES in January 2026 after guest-facing staff completed autism and sensory training. Sensory kits can be borrowed at the front desk. Horse riding, indoor and outdoor pools and waterslides, tubing, boating, pony rides and a climbing wall are included in the stay, with skiing and ice skating seasonally -- an all-in price and a fixed site, which suits families who would rather not renegotiate a new environment every day.

·Waterford, Ireland

Accredited by AsIAm as an Autism Friendly Town against its 3-year standard, covering the city rather than any single business. Participating shops and services have completed AsIAm autism training. Included on the same basis as Clonakilty above.

·Main Street, Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica

All-inclusive family resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, holding IBCCES Advanced Certified Autism Center status -- the top tier of the scheme, which requires ongoing staff training and site-wide sensory provision. Guest-facing staff complete IBCCES autism and sensory training, the resort publishes IBCCES sensory guides for its restaurants and attractions, and the Kids Camp accommodates children with autism, ADHD or sensory processing differences with a lower staffing ratio on request. Included on the same basis as Beaches Turks & Caicos above -- the standing brief for this pass (2026-08-27) verified the accreditation live, and it is one of very few Caribbean resorts at the Advanced tier.

·Lower Bight Road, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands

All-inclusive family resort on Grace Bay, Providenciales, holding IBCCES Advanced Certified Autism Center status -- the top tier of the scheme, which requires ongoing staff training and site-wide sensory provision. The resort publishes downloadable IBCCES sensory guides for its restaurants and activities, and offers a Kids Camp with a lower staffing ratio for children with autism, ADHD or sensory processing differences on request. Included because the standing brief for this pass (2026-08-27) verified the accreditation status live, and this is one of the strongest per-resort autism signals available in the Caribbean.

A Certified Autism Center across both the theme park and its on-site hotel, following resort-wide IBCCES autism sensitivity and awareness training. IBCCES sensory guides rate each ride and attraction for how it may affect a child with sensory processing differences. There is a quiet room with weighted blankets, dim lighting and tactile toys; ear plugs from First Aid on request; and Assisted Access Passes from Guest Services. Roughly 60 miles north-west of New York City, so it works as an overnight break rather than only a day out.

·100 Sesame Road, Langhorne, PA 19047

The first theme park in the world designated a Certified Autism Center by IBCCES, in 2018, and recertified since -- which requires at least 80% of guest-facing staff to complete autism and sensory training. There is a low-sensory room inside the Family Care Center with adjustable lighting, comfortable seating and sensory toys; noise-cancelling headphones to borrow from the Family Care Center or Welcome Center; a designated quiet area behind the Sesame Street Neighborhood; low-sensory parade viewing and dining; and a Ride Accessibility Program that matches each ride's requirements to a guest's abilities.
